OCTOBER 28, 2021

Also this made me really laugh this week while we were serving at the Conference Center. Christ really does invite ALL to come unto Him lol.

OCTOBER 28, 2021 -- NOT GOING TO LIE . . .

This was a hard week for me!

When you pray to the Lord to see your weaknesses He'll let you see them. Oh boy, did He let me see them this week. I thought about who I used to be. How far I've come, and how far I still need to go.  I was humbled to say the least.

Sometimes it's hard to accept change or accept the will of God because it's inconvenient or will make you uncomfortable but let me tell you! Growth never happens in your comfort zone!!

Ether 12:27 says "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."

Something my companion, Sister Munns, pointed out to me this week was that this scripture doesn't say, "weaknessES" just "weakness".

I really took this to heart. That we are weak in the sense that we're all human. Christ didn't say, "Well okay, I'm gonna make so and so be impatient and lazy and those are their weaknesses". Christ acknowledges that none of us are perfect and in His love, extends His perfection to us. That in Him, we can become something more. That we can become strong! That once we acknowledge we are nothing without Him, we can have the power to do everything IN Him!

This week we had visited the Bishop's Central Storehouse (a welfare center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) and took a tour there. It's amazing to see people taking care of people, kind of like the Good Samaritan:). They gave us these yellow "Helping Hands" t-shirts (which is the service/relief group). The portraits I put in this email are depictions of Jesus Christ they have hanging in the front hallway. I love them! Especially the one of Christ kissing the little girl.   It just touches my heart to think one day I'll be able to embrace my Savior just as tenderly.

And then here's a panoramic view of the Book of Mormon Gallery in the Conference Center! It's so neat! Twelve paintings which all depict history written in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions about the Book of Mormon, email me! I grow closer to my Savior every single time I read it.

OCTOBER 21, 2021 -- I JUST GOT HOME FROM THE TEMPLE :)

This P-Day has been a little busy because we've been in the Jordan River Temple! It's amazing to be inside a Temple. The peace it brings me is inexplicable. At the center of the temple is Christ and I'm so grateful to go there and grow closer to Him.

The weather is BEAUTIFUL in Salt Lake right now. The sunrises are like cotton candy and the work is just as sweet.

This week:

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building caught on fire

The gardeners gave us flowers! They tore up all the summer plants and planted over 4,500 more for the fall!

Had an ice cream party with a senior missionary couple  (the Müllers) from Switzerland!

I read Matthew 5 (The Beatitudes) while sitting inside the Celestial Room today inside the Temple. Reading the words of Christ while sitting in His house did so good for my heart. Christ gave an almost identical sermon to the people on the American continent after He was crucified and resurrected. It's recorded in the Book of Mormon in 3 Nephi 12 and a testimony to me that Christ really is the Savior of the ENTIRE world! Give it a read this week and I know you can grow closer to Him!

Love y'all! Have a beautiful gorgeous week.

Also I hit FIVE months this week! Crazy!

OCTOBER 14, 2021 — PROBABLY THE BEST WEEK DE ME VIDA

I'll just put this right in the beginning. I'm so grateful for my family. You are the light of my life! I am so grateful for you and your righteous examples to me.

Mom and Dad:  You are the most Christlike people I know and each day you inspire me to be better.

I am truly feeling the joy that comes from missionary work. I feel so spectacular. Truly the Lord has blessed us so immensely and the miracles are so easy to recognize. I have been focusing more on hope this week and remembering, "no pierda la esperanza!" (Don't lose hope) and "Look unto Me in every thought, DOUBT NOT FEAR NOT" (Doctrine and Covenants 3:36) There is no need to doubt when are eyes are single to Him!

Some miracles this week FIRST AND FOREMOST IS ONE OF OUR FRIENDS.  I can not express to you the joy in our hearts because of him. Here on Temple Square, we usually meet someone once and then never see them again. We met Ron about a month ago on a tour of Historic Temple Square. We had stayed in contact off and on and finally we were able to have a zoom call with him to have a lesson about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. Let just say after our hour together, I could've passed away and ascended straight into eternal bliss.

He expressed to us his experience at Temple Square and how during our tour, he could feel God speaking to him through us. He couldn't remember anything about the buildings or the temple or the history, but he remembered how the Spirit made him feel. That he could feel there was something exquisitely different at Temple Square. Something different about us. He expressed to me how much my testimony meant to him. That the conviction I had in belief of Jesus Christ touched him. It was so humbling and gratifying to know what we do truly is making a difference.

I feel lifted by the Savior this week. There are so many joys but also many sorrows that accompany serving a mission  that's what makes the joys even sweeter<3). During those sad moments, I turn to prayer and can feel so distinctly the comfort and peace that comes from the Holy Ghost. I can almost feel the arms of my Savior wrapped around me. Someone told me this week that when we feel as though we are at our lowest, that's when the Savior is closest to us. When there's only one pair of footprints in the sand, it's not that Christ stopped walking with us, but that He is carrying us. What a blessing to be able to know His true nature. To know of, and have tasted of His goodness and "feel to sing the song of redeeming love" (Alma 5:26)

I love you all. It even feels a little cheesy saying it but it's true. Don't be a stranger!

This week we. . .

Started serving at the humanitarian center!

Had a kind woman buy our groceries

Helped people around through pouring rain with our umbrellas... can't run away when we are keeping you dry!!

OCTOBER 7, 2021 — THIS WEEKS WEEKLY

This week we had General Conference! We didn't get to go watch in person but the Sister Missionaries here watched together in the chapel of the Jospeh Smith Memorial Building which was just an absolute joy. What an amazing experience listening to the words of the Lord surrounded by so many of His dedicated servants.

Something that I LOVED from Conference was the message President Nelson gave about the renovation of the Salt Lake City Temple and the strengthening of its foundation. He related it to our need of strengthening our spiritual foundations on Christ! I loved it so much because I get to serve around this temple everyday and President Nelson explained so simply that at the center of the temple is Christ!

(Here's the link to watch/listen/read

Because the Conference Center was closed for Conference (and a majority of our time is spent there) our mission President arranged for us to all go on a hike down at Mutual Dell up the Provo Canyon and wow. It was so amazing to be out of the city and in God's creations.

Alma 30:44 says

yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.

With this in mind, YOU are His greatest creation. His work and His glory is your immortality and eternal life! (Moses 1:39
I love being a missionary and having so many opportunities to love and serve His creations. If there's any way I can serve you this week, let me know!

Have an absolutely STELLAR week! You are loved!

SEPTEMBER 29, 2021 — FOUR MONTHS

Buckle up... this may be a long one. One for the books! I've been so bad about writing in my journal but this week is definitely getting written down.

First things first — this week was transfers and now my pday is Thursday!

Sister Munns and I are staying together which is WONDERFUL which means I get to finish training her! We also have new roommates, Sister Bessette (from my home ward!!!) and Sister Magar who is brand new to the mission and from Nepal. It is going to be an awesome transfer!

We had several really amazing experiences this week but one that sticks out so much to me is from yesterday. We had just finished serving in the Family History Library and made our way over to Historic Temple Square to give a tour. Before our tour, we offered a fervent prayer that the power of the Book of Mormon and the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ would touch each person's heart.

We started with just two people (4:00pm on Wednesday afternoon) evidently isn't the prime time for visitors in the middle of September, but as we continued throughout the tour we had more and more people join us until we had 15! We could feel the Spirit directing us in what to do and say. I can truly say I felt the Lord put the words in my mouth. As we stepped out of the Tabernacle every. single. person. grabbed a Book of Mormon until the Tabernacle had no English copies left. and THEN we went and got an Italian copy for our friend Luisa! It was such an amazing moment and I think I can speak for us all when I say we could all feel the Spirit of God and the love Christ has for us so strongly.

We're getting ready for General Conference this Saturday and Sunday and Temple Square is just buzzing. Workers are everywhere preparing and we are all so excited to hear from the Prophet this weekend.

Amos 3:7 says:

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today, and forever and one way He has always shown His love for us is through prophets. The prophet today, Russell M. Nelson, truly is a man called of God to lead and guide us. WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE this weekend and hear from him and other leaders give messages that all relate back to Jesus Christ (and when you watch just know that I serve inside the Conference Center everyday🤩)

This week I also...

Got followed home by a homeless man.

Drove on Utah highways for the first time and was LOSING MY MIND WHY IS IT SO STRESSFUL.

Met Jerry Ford! He served his mission with my Dad in Salt Lake back in the day!

Got to be really good friends with several senior missionaries working at the Family Search Library! They are just so darling!

Got told I looked like Belle and also Alice in Wonderland more times than I can count.

That being said this was a long one and if you made it this far I love you! I hope you all have an awesome week!
