Buckle up... this may be a long one. One for the books! I've been so bad about writing in my journal but this week is definitely getting written down.
First things first — this week was transfers and now my pday is Thursday!
Sister Munns and I are staying together which is WONDERFUL which means I get to finish training her! We also have new roommates, Sister Bessette (from my home ward!!!) and Sister Magar who is brand new to the mission and from Nepal. It is going to be an awesome transfer!
We had several really amazing experiences this week but one that sticks out so much to me is from yesterday. We had just finished serving in the Family History Library and made our way over to Historic Temple Square to give a tour. Before our tour, we offered a fervent prayer that the power of the Book of Mormon and the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ would touch each person's heart.
We started with just two people (4:00pm on Wednesday afternoon) evidently isn't the prime time for visitors in the middle of September, but as we continued throughout the tour we had more and more people join us until we had 15! We could feel the Spirit directing us in what to do and say. I can truly say I felt the Lord put the words in my mouth. As we stepped out of the Tabernacle every. single. person. grabbed a Book of Mormon until the Tabernacle had no English copies left. and THEN we went and got an Italian copy for our friend Luisa! It was such an amazing moment and I think I can speak for us all when I say we could all feel the Spirit of God and the love Christ has for us so strongly.
We're getting ready for General Conference this Saturday and Sunday and Temple Square is just buzzing. Workers are everywhere preparing and we are all so excited to hear from the Prophet this weekend.
Amos 3:7 says:
Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today, and forever and one way He has always shown His love for us is through prophets. The prophet today, Russell M. Nelson, truly is a man called of God to lead and guide us. WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE this weekend and hear from him and other leaders give messages that all relate back to Jesus Christ (and when you watch just know that I serve inside the Conference Center everyday🤩)
This week I also...
Got followed home by a homeless man.
Drove on Utah highways for the first time and was LOSING MY MIND WHY IS IT SO STRESSFUL.
Met Jerry Ford! He served his mission with my Dad in Salt Lake back in the day!
Got to be really good friends with several senior missionaries working at the Family Search Library! They are just so darling!
Got told I looked like Belle and also Alice in Wonderland more times than I can count.
That being said this was a long one and if you made it this far I love you! I hope you all have an awesome week!
