JANUARY 10, 2022 -- GUESS WHERE I'M AT . . .

Day THREE in Argentina!!!!

After two days of traveling and waiting and riding planes and busses and taxis, I'm FINALLY here in Córdoba. As I write this, I'm at a loss of even where to start. I will just say, I thought I knew Spanish. . . girl -- I was wrong.

BUT my companion is from Misiones, Argentina, and I'm learning very quickly how to talk in circles to communicate ideas or ask questions. We're working on her English too a little so it's just a constant back and forth of learning. My favorite word we've learned is EVIL. O malvado en Español 😎
But I'm definitely in South America. The culture is different, the animals are different (literally green parrots fly around???) the food is different. Everything is different!! And on top of it all I'm still dead tired from traveling because I'm a baby BUT the people are so kind and I know I'll come to love all the differences.

Right now, I'm in a suburb of Córdoba, Villa Carlos Paz, and its a big tourist destination. We rent our apartment from the Bishop of our ward (which is 100% virtual right now because of covid🥲) and he has a goat that screams all day and all night. BUT we have a air conditioner AND a water filter so we're living the high life. And it's just gorgeous here. We're in the sierras (big rolling hills) and there are trees with pink and purple flowers that line all the streets.

Our ward is called Sion (Zion) and everybody in the mission says this is the best area so YAY!!

But I really feel so blessed to be here. I recently have been praying to love the people sincerely and that I can learn the language so I can actually talk to them, haha. Sometimes it's just hard to open your mouth!! But yesterday I asked these two abuelitas for recipes and they were so sweet. They want us to love them so it's our job to try!

Something that really has stuck with me as I've come down is from the Book of Mormon, in Moroni 8:13. It says "for perfect love casteth out all fear."

If I can love the people, love the work, and most importantly love the Lord, I don't have to be afraid! An understanding that everything is in His hands helps me to put things and perspective and just lay my all on the altar.

These next TEN months will be different, but will be so sweet and I put my trust in God and just work.

Love you all!! Have an awesome week!!!!
