JULY 25, 2022

I LOVE ARGENTINA AND I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY. The words of the Book of Mormón prophet, Alma, sums up how I feel.

Alma 29:1 "O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!"

Highlights from this week:

I'm training again! Hermana Fleitas is from Paraguay and we've had a banger of a first week! She placed her first baptismal date and is learning really fast! It'll be an awesome three months.

Had a baptism in our chapel... sadly not one of our friend 🥲 but it was still cool. They asked us to fill up the baptismal font so we pulled up to the church to start the water and IT'S FULL. THERE HASNT BEEN A BAPTISM IN THIS CHAPEL SINCE BEFORE THE PANDEMIC😭 so the water was nasty with a capital N but it wasn't draining... so we start scooping out the mosquito larvae filled water with buckets and squeegeeing it into the women's bathroom drain until we went to the electric box and figured out the power was turned off to the baptismal font. And then it went better. haha

Our friend Richard (17 years old) got baptized three years ago and since then hasn't come to church since, but he's come two Sundays in a row and this week brought his little brother!! We're visiting their entire family and now Richard wants to serve a mission and I died of happiness to hear it.

Also we had a hot dog potluck in the chapel to celebrate "day of the friend" this week. More investigators came than members so that was a win. haha

Send me an email! I have less than FOUR months left in my mission so if you want wisdom from me you're running out of time. Haha just kidding -- but I love you guys and I'd love to hear from you! Have a good week!

JULY 11, 2022

We went to the funeral of our sweet friend Zulema today. She was a member of the ward here in Villa Allende and we'll miss her a lot. As members of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ we have a distinct look on life and death. I know God has a plan for every one of us. We didn't only come to earth to live and die and go to heaven or hell. There's so much more and I'm grateful for the Savior who makes it all possible.

But to sum up the week, it was American Independence Day on the 4th and then Argentine Independence day on the 9th! We had a choripaneada at the chapel to celebrate and danced traditional Argentine dances and ate! And there are a lot of people who use horses as transportation and they had a little 9th of July parade!! Literally I've never seen that many horses in one place.

Our new friend Renzo wants to get baptized but his family hates us! It is honestly so interesting the way some people treat us like we're aliens coming to brainwash them. You smile at them and ask how they're doing and they just smack ya down. Pray my charm and winning smile gets to 'em... just kidding. We'll see how it goes with time.

We are also starting to teach the rest of Willy's family!! Vamos!!

In other news:
I twisted my ankle real good this week

We hit a new record of times being told we shouldn't be out on the street in these neighborhoods alone haha...

Got to teach with our district leaders in two lessons!! They live in the area next to ours so we're constantly finding people in each other's area so we had two pass off lessons this week which was so fun!

But that's about it!!

OH AND I ALSO FINALLY BROUGHT MY RED PAIR OF SHOES TO GET REPAIRED SO SOON I'LL BE BACK TO HAVING TWO PAIRS OF SHOES!!! (I don't want to buy new ones because I go home in FOUR months...)

But I love you guys!!! Have a good one!!

JULY 5, 2022 -- LOS PEQUENITOS ME MATAN!

Last night we had a Family Home Evening with one of our favorite friends and her family. Her daughter in law has a five year old son who loves hugs and kisses and when we got to their house he ran up to hug us!! Then when we he let go just kept puckering his lips until I bent down and let him kiss me on the cheek. So tender. Haha I die!

But miracles from this week include our friend Willy. The sweetest guy you'll ever meet in the most genuine way with a twelve year old daughter. The bad news is he got hit by a car this week, nothing grave but he's really banged up bad with terrible black eyes and his head all muffed up. We went to visit them this Sunday and he just told us everything. His hopes and dreams for his life and the new opportunity he knows God is giving him to change. He wants to get baptized. I wish I could even describe to you guys how amazing this encounter was. I was so filled of love for this child of God and could see how desperate he was for truth and relief. The Lord has been preparing Willy and I'm grateful to be his friend in the process. Pray for him!

Carina is also progressing like wildfire... we just need her to come to church!! Please!!!

In other news. . .

We have a new mission president!
Went on more exchanges
Had leadership council and zone conference
Walked a ton

A year ago this week I left for Temple Square!! So many tender memories there!
